Nonviolent Communication and the Young Researcher
Let's talk about our launch, a book on non-violent communication, focused on the life of the young researcher. Let's take the opportunity to add discussions not present in the book.
“People who are aware of their own needs and feelings make terrible slaves”
Marshall Rosenberg
About our book
This ebook is just a set of reflections, a set of insights on Nonviolent Communication (NVC), focused on the academic environment. Please don't put on me the burden of 'master' or 'expert': I'm just an apprentice, a 'baby giraffe'. Focused means:
Examples and reflections focused on academic reality, one should not understand how I am proposing a new theory.
The theory presented here is the theory proposed by Marshall Rosenberg. What I did was organize everything I was able to absorb, looking at the little I learned from an academic point of view. I left references: keep learning, please! Don't use my insights as the final story, and only interpretation. Much of what I share would be a “mind simulation”, “mind experiments”: I thought, for the most part, what could I have done better when it comes to communication in the past, where I struggled? I reckon that a large part of my failure, when I got into losses and non-productive interactions, was communication problems. We don't teach people to communicate.
Possible target audience, but far from restrictive
I like to always keep expectations under control, and whatever comes up is profit. As I like to say: prepare for failure, success is so rare, it's not even worth putting in your plans, and when it comes, it's profit!
Laurentino Gomes gave an interview to Roda Vida that caught my attention, I liked it a lot[1]. He spoke of his most recent book: Racism, How It Affects Modern Times. As he jokes: No one looked good in the picture in this book. I felt as if I could have given the interview, had I been invited, in the same way: changing only the topic, but the content would be the same. The survey that we are going to show draws attention to the denial of violence, as racism is denied with great difficulty.
We can't attack anything socially if we don't accept it; as it is brought to attention, institutions mirror society.
